Week 2 of CityShaper First Lego League

This week started off great! The project team were mind storming ideas helping nature, wildlife and pollution. They looked at cars, air quality, building structures, Ubers, Singapore and deforestation. I’m really excited for this year’s project as I think it links to real life, and also gives us a good picture of what the future might hold and what we might need to change to save our environment.

Secondly, we moved on to planning and prioritising the Robot missions so we would get the most points during the two and a half minutes. My team are deciding which missions we are definitely going to complete and which ones we think are just too hard. There are always some easy ones that can gain quite a few points so we will try to do those first. But because it’s my first time I’ve never had the experience of picking out which missions we are going to take part in so it’s very interesting to hear the team discussions. I am stoked and super excited for our team to start programming and building the perfect robot to complete the missions. There are a few challenges we will definitely not be attempting at the moment as they are way too risky and awkward.

I quite like to tell you all about our team snack time in my blog. This week we had a really big selection which was brought in by one of the members parents. They were very kind and brought in some Haribo, a giant bag of popcorn, frazzles, grapes and much more!!! Yummy. At break time it’s very hard to keep us all away from the Lego so we tend to end up eating our food while fiddling with the bits! Don’t forget to wash your hands always after eating food before touching Lego as we don’t want the Lego to get sticky!

We also haven’t come up with the team name yet! We have lots of ideas but still not decided.

Well that’s all from me this week. I hope you found this blog interesting and gives you a little insight into what it’s like to be part of a team competing in the first leg of the league. See you all next week, thank you!! ?? Blog by Marnie
