The Robot Big Build Day February 2020 Half-Term

Jake’s Blog

Thank you to Jake for writing a Blog about the Robot Big Build Day

Every Monday morning before school at Robot Club, we program and build robots using Lego Mindstorms and an EV3 brick with Mrs Stoneham.

On Tuesday 16th February, 2 of my friends and I went to the Big Build day in Fareham. There were 10 other people there as well. When we got there, there were 4 different types of robot designs to choose from.

  • There was a dog that could move and bark,
  • A crane that picked up bricks,
  • An elephant that could walk, swish its tail and move its trunk,
  • And finally, a colour sorter that was connected to a light sensor. It could detect what colour a Lego brick was and when you put it in the top of it, it would sort it into the right pot.

I built this last one. We spent 6 hours building them!

I loved everything about it!
