Weekly One Hour Lessons

Robot Liz-ii runs a series of weekly one hour lessons with 16 children (half a class) to cover many aspects of the Computer National Curriculum. It’s the perfect way to introduce Robots (or physical systems) in the lesson without the large financial outlay.

The following covers a proposed outline of subjects covered over a series of FIVE sessions:

Weekly Robot Workshops

5 x 1 Hour Sessions

Proposed Outline

Session 1 Background to Robots

Try out motors, displays, sound, sensors

Download to EV3 brick

Session 2 Build Robot

Programme Robot to move around Road Map or race

Session 3 Add ultrasonic sensors (input) to detect object and loop
Session 4 Build pick up accessory and pick up object with medium motor. Add ultrasonic sensor.
Session 5 Add light sensors and loop

Robots are programmed to keep within the dark circle on the mat. This is a fun activity when all robots are put on mat together ending with a ‘Robot Wars’ activity.

Please note that there is a minimum time of two hours and are recommended for Year 5 and Year 6. As the One hour lessons are aimed at 16 children, approximately half a class, a two hour session will include a whole class of 32.
