It was an exciting morning. Everyone turned up early to start the first FLL meeting. We’d been planning it all summer and here we were. The team met for the first time and introduced themselves as only a few of the members knew each other as they attend different Secondary Schools namely Camshill, Portchester, Swanmore and Crofton. This hot bed of talent comes from Robot Liz-ii’s Robot Sessions that she holds at Junior and Primary Schools in the local Fareham and Gosport area.
In the team, we have four oldies and six newbies to FLL. The oldies are eager to get going as they know what to expect and the newbies are apprehensive as it’s all new to them. However, everyone was brimming with enthusiasm.
The FLL box was opened to reveal the bags of Lego for each mission model. Some were large and some were small and everyone paired up and started building. A few models were built but the team kindly volunteered to finish building the Lego models at home to save time next week.
No team name decided yet and definitely a priority to think about during the week. A chocolate cake with an orange rocket was the treat for the first week’s work. The orange rocket signified INTO ORBIT but some thought it looked like a carrot!! The ‘orange’ colour represented our team sponsor Agile ICT for Education ‘Team in Orange’.
Great start to First Lego League. Roll on next week.
